I had a client a few years back that had Osteoporosis, Spinal Stenosis and 2 herniated discs. Every year her numbers were slowly declining. She came to me with concerns and after working together and making several lifestyle recommendations between diet, supplements, exercise and stress management, since 2021 her numbers have been increasing!
Keep in mind this is a woman in her 60s, very fit, thin, energetic and for the most part, lives a healthy life, but also prone to breaks.
We changed her diet slightly in the beginning as she was not really ready to give up certain foods. It was a slow process but towards the middle and the end her diet consisted of: meat maybe 1-2x/week, she consumes all the colors of the rainbow (each food group colour is responsible for different systems in the body. Ex: red fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes and strawberries are packed with vitamins A + C, potassium and antioxidants. Orange/yellow food groups such as peaches, squash and pineapples are responsible for vitamins A + C and potassium. She doesn’t consume much dairy, lots of water, nuts and seeds, lots of fruits and veg and minimal meat was her diet. That worked well for her and she felt sustained.
Supplements she’s been on for a few years are:
3,000IU-5,000IU vitamin D/day
1,500mg of Omega-3 by NutraSea
NEM (natural eggshell membrane - anti inflammatory, pain reliever and helps rebuild cartilage that has broken down)
Relev-X by Platinum. A blend of: glucosamine, turmeric, DGL, boswellia, cat's claw, devils claw, white willow bark and omega 3)
SeaCal by Natural Balance. A blend of calcium, magnesium, vitamin C, vitamin D, boron and vitamin K2 (k2 extremely important for calcium placement in the body. Calcium likes to hangout around the heart, K2 will pull calcium out of the arteries and places it in the bones and the teeth, where it belongs)
Multi-vitamin
Magnesium bisglycinate - 200mg/night. Bisglycinate is the desired form of Magnesium as its paired with a glycine molecule, therefore making it highly absorbable and is assimilated the best. This form also passes the blood brain barrier, so it contributes to much cognitive support. Citric acid forms (Magnesium citrate) are paired with citric acid, drawing water to the bowels and causing a loose stool.
Weekly walks 3-5x/week 30-60 mins outside or treadmill
Stress management of being in nature, being poolside, watching feel-good shows, spending time with partner and family
She was prescribed Actonel and was on it for almost 2 years, she amazingly was able to get off of the Actonel this past May 2024.
It was suggested for her to take injections of Prolea every 6 months - but with much investigation into the prescription, she chose not to. She started her natural supplement regime approximately 1.5 years prior to starting the Actonel.
Below are the results from 2019, 2021 and 2022:

She currently is living a pain free life, no longer on any bone or calcium prescriptions.
She experiences no pain with the spinal stenosis and herniated discs. She follows the same recommended lifestyle in terms of diet, supplements and exercise. She lives a thriving life at 63 years young.
Side note: Her bone doctor was quite surprised at her results of the years. His own words “it is very difficult to achieve these numbers.” he asked her what she has done over the years.
This goes to show that the body can heal and “results” can be changed.
Proper commitment, guidance, support and lifestyle changes can really alter your state for the better.
